The New Addition...

We used to have a wonderful orange tabby cat named, "El Gatto." Sadly, he met an untimely death about 4 years ago, and since then, our house just hasn't felt the same. Recently, a little orange tabby (more sand colored than orange, but a tiger tabby just the same) found Chris while she was outside. The little guy came right up to her, talking all the way. Well, he was a little dirty, no collar, and skinny. So, she picked him up and brought him inside the house. By the end of the day she was in love. Sadly, it turned out that "Timmy" was a neighbor's kitten, and when the signs showed up advertising a "Lost Kitten," we naturally had to give him back... SAD!

Well, Zack saw how much his Mom wanted a kitten, so he asked Chris to borrow her car and said he'd be back shortly. With his OWN money, Zack went to a local pet store and picked out a little scruffy boy kitten... He is an orange tiger tabby (REALLY ORANGE)... with a tail that's broken in three places! He came back home and surprised his mom with an early birthday present!

Having come from a pet store you would have thought he would be cleaner and better kept, but this little guy had "orphan" written all over him! Zack gave him a bath, and when he came out of the bathroom, the kitten looked like Gizmo from the movie, "Gremlins!" His ears are very big for a baby... hopefully it is an indicator of how big he'll get! Anyway, Zack gave him the name "Gizmo," but Chris soon changed it.

Picasso - "Pico" - hanging out in Chris's baby sling

Chris's love for famous painters came out, and because of his stair-step tail and big ears, she named this little lover, "Picasso"... or "Pico" for short. He is a talker, and VERY social. He loves to be where you are, and doesn't seem phased by the dogs at all. At first we weren't sure it was the best idea to have him, given we didn't want him to become a "Scoobie Snack," but as it turns out, the big dogs are scared to death of him!

None of us realized just how much we'd missed having a cat around the house! There will never be another cat like El Gatto - he is simply irreplacable, but this little guy is on his way to being the next loving addition to our home. He's been here three days, and already he's getting fat! When we get him neutered he'll hopefully get even bigger! Now with Simon living in St. George, I hope Pico will like to snuggle and help me through the pain. I'm very happy to have an orange tiger tabby back in our lives... with the loss of one friend comes the opportunity to make a new one.

This is me... take it or leave it.
